On some occasions when winds are forecasted to take us over the large lake to the East (Largo Trasimeno), we will use a backup site further west and fly towards Avignonesi. We would still meet at Avignonesi and provide transport to the backup site. The pilot’s main priority is your safety and a flight would not be moved to a backup site unless there is a very good reason to do so.
Directions to Avignonesi
Exit the Bettolle – Perugia Autostradale (Superstrada) at the Cortona exit and head south towards Montepulciano on road SP32. Carry on straight for 4-5 km and pass straight through a junction towards Valiano. About 300 m after the junction there will be a sign left for Avignonesi (it’s a dirt road). The first buildings you see on the right, after about 400 m, is Avignonesi. Please note that the crew might not be on site until 15 minutes before the scheduled meeting time so if you are early, don’t panic, you are probably at the correct location waiting for us to arrive. You should consider using a taxi on the day of your flight since the excellent wine is plentiful at the brunch.
Late Arrival
As with any commercial flight, if you miss your flight no refund will be due but if you think you are going to be late you can try to contact the pilot on the mobile number you will be given after you have booked your flight. There is no guarantee that you would be able to contact the pilot in the morning since the mobile phone signal might not be good at the launch site and after the balloon is inflated, about 20-30 minutes after the meeting time, it might not be possible to delay the launch. If you miss your flight we would try to fit you in to a flight one of the following mornings, subject to available spaces.
